One of the key attractions of this year's Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2026 will be the presentation of works from the 29th International Amber Jewellery Design Competition AMBERIF DESIGN AWARD. This year's theme, “The Magic of Matter”, inspired creators from around the world to reflect on their contemporary relationship with the material. The organisers encouraged artists to engage in bold experimentation at the intersection of craft, art and technology, where amber became a field of research open to deconstruction and dialogue with the material. The post-competition exhibition, featuring 41 qualifying works from 28 countries, is a showcase of the boldest and most conceptual approaches to amber, revealing that its “magic” manifests in the history, intention and experience carried by the material.
