This year's edition of the competition reflects on silence as a space of choice and escape from an excess of stimuli, but also as tension, an unspoken word, or silence within a relationship – both the kind that soothes and the kind that overwhelms. The curators invited artistic jewellery makers to offer a personal and experimental interpretation of this theme, seeing jewellery as an intimate medium capable of expressing the multidimensional meanings of silence. The works presented at the exhibition – selected through an international competition – offer an answer to the question of how, in a world dominated by noise and haste, jewellery can become a vehicle for stillness, intimacy and deeper reflection on the nature of human experience.
